Introductory Borosilicate Lampworking class:

Cost: $300.00 per student. Can accommodate 1 - 3 students at a time.

  Utilizing an Oxy/Gas torch and various hand tools you will be introduced to the exiting and limitless, age old style of glass work known as "Lampworking". Using "boro" glass you will learn how to work with heat, gravity, and various tools and techniques that are used to create marbles, pendants, beads, ornaments, goblets and so much more there isn't room enough to list them all. Once you have been introduced to the basic techniques taught in this course, that are common to all functional and sculptural objects, you will be limited only by your own interests and imagination as to what area to focus your new skills on.
  This course is geared toward Beginners with little or no experience working glass on a torch. you should have good dexterity in your hands and be able to use simple hand tools easily to have the most success in learning this craft.

Class is open to students 16 and over (students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

This course runs:
two consecutive Sundays 10:00am-6:00pm with a break for lunch each day.

Beginner and intermediate Stained glass:

 Introductory Stained glass class: Tiffany style (copper foiled) technique
Cost: $185.00 per student   limit 6 students

 This course is designed for those with little to no experience in working with stained glass.  You will be taken through all the steps necessary to create a copper foiled stained glass piece, from cutting a pattern, to choosing glass, cutting, grinding, soldering, and everything in between. Of course you will be shown plenty of handy tips and tricks along the way.  We will also be discussing shop safety and set up for those who decide to continue on with the skills they have picked up in this course.

  The tuition for this course covers the use of the tools and all the supplies you will need to create your first masterpiece in glass. At the end of this course you will have a nice piece to take home and proudly display for all your family and friends to see.

 Pre-designed patterns will be provided for you to choose from on the first day of class as well as a nice variety of glass colors to work from.

 This course runs: 6 consecutive Thursdays from 6:00p – 9:00p or Saturdays from 3:00p – 6:00p

 

 Introductory Lead came technique: Leaded glass style
Cost:
$125.00 per student   limit 6 students

 This course builds upon the skills you have learned in the introductory stained glass course. You will learn the difference between the two styles (Foiled vs. Leaded) and the different way to prepare a pattern for this type of glass work. Cutting and grinding are the same but assembly and finishing are very different.
 The Introductory stained glass class or ample experience in doing stained glass is a prerequisite to taking this course as we will not be covering the basics in this class.

 This course runs: 4 consecutive Thursdays from 6:00p – 9:00p or Saturdays from 3:00p – 6:00p and runs after the intro class is finished.

 

Intermediate stained glass class: The next steps
Cost: TBD

 This course builds on the basics and covers such topics as overlays, etched elements painted elements, pattern development, structure and 3 dimensional objects.
This is a less rigid format and is designed to focus more on your individual interests and what you are looking to get out of it.
 You must have a good foundation in basic stained glass techniques to take this course as the basics will not be addressed.

 Lamp shade making class: Making a stained glass lampshade
Cost: TBD

   This class covers all of the skills needed to design, pattern and create a three dimensional stained glass lampshade. This class only meets twice. On day one you will create a pattern and choose glass for the project. We will discuss the steps needed to get the lamp to assembly stage, after which you would do the first steps to making your shade in your home studio. The second class will meet to show the final steps of assembly and the different finishing techniques to making a strong and lasting lamp shade to pass down through the family for years to come.

  This class requires you to have a solid foundation in stained glass techniques, and your own tools and studio setting to do some of the work in. Basic stained glass skills will not be touched on in this course.
